(Rosharon, TX) December 12 –Best known for his role as Tommy Oliver in the long-running TV show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Jason David Frank is attempting
to break a Guinness Book of World Records – to jump out of a plane at 14,000 feet and break (with a bare handed knuckle punch) as many one–inch pine boards as he can before he deploys his parachute.
The current record is held by Travis Donley, who in 2011, set a Guinness World Record for breaking two 12×12” by 1” thick pine boards in freefall.
“I’m always looking to better myself and do something unconventional,” said Frank from his hometown of Kingwood, Texas. “The idea here is to break a world record while at the same time proving to people that you can do anything if you put your mind and heart into it,” he added.
A highly accomplished and respected martial artist with 34 years experience, “Kyoshi” Frank currently holds a seventh degree black belt in American Karate and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Frank is the owner/operator of Rising Sun Karate and MMA, with three schools in Texas and one in California. He is also the founder/CEO of Jesus Didn’t Tap, the first
Christian-based line of MMA clothing and fight gear. Inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame in 2003 as the American Karate Master of the Year, he is also the
founder of Toso Kune Do, his own style.
“Although I have always been an actor at heart, through training I have gained a great respect for martial arts and MMA. Acting takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but
martial arts brings a whole new meaning to discipline and determination,” added Frank.
The jump is scheduled to take place at Skydive Spaceland in Rosharon, TX on January 17th, 2013. Frank will jump from 14,000 feet alongside another jumper across from him in mid-air. Frank will attempt to punch through single one-inch boards as his assistant holds them in his hands, one-by-one, hopefully breaking through three to surpass the current record. An official Guinness channel will film the record-breaking attempt.
